Quin-Mo-Lac’s Leadership Program
The Counsellor in Training program is a 2-week leadership program for youth, ages 15-16 years as of December 31, 2026, who are:
· Genuinely interested in children and camping
· Energetic, positive, and caring
· Motivated to learn and develop solid counselling and leadership skills
There are two versions of this life changing program at Camp Quin-Mo-Lac.
Our two week option gives candidates more time at camp. The first week of the program is devoted to sessions involving parenting skills, child development, communication, camp operations and programming, and discussion of faith. The second week is when our candidates can get some direct experience with counselling children under safe and supervised conditions. A major part of the 2 week CIT program is the Bronze Medallion swim training. The intense structure of the water program plays a part in the character building of a well-rounded CIT. Candidates who already have their Bronze Medallion will have a chance to earn their Bronze Cross swimming certification
Our one week option gives candidates the same training sessions without the Bronze swim training attached. These candidates will focus on the same great leadership sessions as our other groups and will have the opportunity to get some direct experience with counselling children under safe and supervised conditions. It’s a great option for someone who has a busy summer schedule.
Specifically, Quin-Mo-Lac’s Counsellor in Training program provides participants with:
Two weeks of accommodation and food
Valuable leadership training and hands-on, counselling experience
Hands on experience with overnight tripping
A special edition CIT camp shirt
Instruction and certification in: Emergency First Aid with CPR-B
Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross swim training (two week option only)
CIT graduation ceremony and certificate of accomplishment
Invitation to the following summer’s staff/volunteer training week (for successful CIT graduates)

Application Process:
Visit our online registration portal and select the summer 2026 option. Complete the Counsellor-In-Training application with your child. Candidates will be asked to provide a minimum of two session dates they would be available to attend. Submit your application but do not send payment until after your child has been accepted to the program.
All CIT candidates will be invited to attend our mandatory interview day at Quin-Mo-Lac on Saturday May 23, 2026 from 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Planned activities will help the Leadership Directors select candidates who most exhibit the skills, knowledge, attitude and leadership potential relevant to the QML philosophy. Come dressed for outdoor activities. Lunch will be provided.
Successful candidates will be notified by mail as to whether or not they have been accepted to the program and they will be assigned to one of 4 CIT sessions during the summer. At that time, the registration fee will be applied to the account and parents will make payment arrangements.
