Dear Quin-Mo-Lac Community,
It is with excitement and confidence that as of December 1, 2025 we welcome Beth McKinney as our new Executive Director of Camp Quin-Mo-Lac.
“Executive Director” you may ask?
What happened to “Camp Director”?
A sign of a healthy organization is the ability to identify talent and the needs of the system but also recognise when it is time to evolve historical leadership structures. After two years of looking for the “right fit” for a Camp Director at QML it became clear to the search committee that it was time for this change to happen. Looking at other camp management arrangements and recognizing the leadership and institutional knowledge we had in front of us with Beth, it was a unanimous Board decision to move in this direction. QML will now have a full-time Executive Director and a part-time (3/4 yr) Summer Director (yet to be hired).
Fortunately for all these big plans Beth said yes to taking on this new role and leading us into the future. For those that would ask about a vetting and interview process for this new position, we will tell you that without any of us knowing it, there has been a 2-year interview. Beth has essentially led the camp for the past 2 years while we have been looking for a new camp director and it goes with out saying her leadership has been outstanding.
Beth has been a lifelong member of the QML community starting as a camper, then staff counsellor, program staff, CIT Director and 2 years as Assistant Director. She then left and was a successful Camp Director at two other United Church camps for a total of 10 years. More recently she has been our Camp Administrator for the past 10 years. Her professional credentials follow this devotion to young people. These include a BAS in Child Studies from the University of Guelph, 10 years of training and practice in Art Therapy and she is also a certified elementary teacher in Ontario. Beth’s whole life has been dedicated to the positive growth and development of young people in the camp environment and we are fortunate to have her back.
Please join us in welcoming Beth to the new role of Executive Director.
